DxO ViewPoint is the indispensable companion to your wide-angle lens, correcting perspectives and easily restoring the natural shapes of the subjects located along image edges. As both a standalone application and as a plugin, it offers simple visual tools for making spectacular corrections, along with advanced controls for unrivaled precision.
Fix complex perspective problems
In architectural or urban photography, depending on the position of the photographer with respect to the scene, vertical and horizontal lines can lose their parallelism. DxO ViewPoint lets you easily fix even the most complex perspective problems. Place your anchor points along the lines that you want to fix. Apply your correction: unnatural-looking façades instantly regain their initial appearance. DxO ViewPoint automatically crops the image while maximizing the visible field.
When a photo contains two perspective problems (horizontal and vertical), you can place the four anchor points of the Rectangle tool to immediately reestablish a frontal view of the object — indispensable when shooting a painting! With 8-point mode, you can handle even the most complex perspectives. Being able to independently place horizontal and vertical guidelines lets you correct the perspective for multiple planes in the same image with unequaled precision. Use DxO ViewPoint’s advanced controls to fine-tune settings according to your tastes: adjust the intensity of your correction or modify the crop.
Restore true proportions
The shapes of the subjects in certain kinds of photos taken with a wide-angle lens tend to appear deformed. Particularly along the edges of the image, bodies and faces are stretched and enlarged — a phenomenon known as “volume deformation.” Open your image, identify the type of deformation, and apply the appropriate correction: DxO ViewPoint restores the natural proportions of deformed objects in just one click. This exclusive DxO Labs feature, particularly useful for portrait and group photos, applies corrections that are perfectly adapted to your equipment. Thanks to DxO ViewPoint’s exclusive automatic crop feature, you can preserve the proportions of your image for a more natural rendering. Want to fine-tune your settings? Use advanced controls to easily modify the intensity of the correction. You can also choose the visible field of your image for perfect compositions.
Distortion correction: perfectly straight lines
DxO ViewPoint offers a sophisticated tool for correcting different kinds of lens distortions. Barrel, pincushion, or fisheye — master every untoward curve! After you’ve fixed the distortion, you can then easily use perspective correction tools. Thanks to DxO Labs’ know-how, you can use DxO Optics Modules to automatically obtain corrections that are perfectly adapted to your equipment. Developed in the lab following an exclusive calibration procedure, DxO Optics Modules contain extensive information about the characteristics of each camera and lens. This unique database is continually being augmented.
Straighten the horizon
Restore the balance and authenticity of your landscape photos by perfectly straightening a slanted horizon.
Simply trace the horizon line to fix in your photo. No need to fiddle with a slider or to manually define the angle degree of correction!
For a more creative rendering, give your image an original look by tilting the horizon completely: choose a different orientation that can convey excitement or calm, according to your own tastes.
Trace over the lines that you want to straighten out in your image: the perspective correction tool will correct your photo in just seconds. You can straighten out the lines just as easily for more complicated forms, and achieve great results for your image in just one click. Use the Loupe tool to precisely place your anchor points: slider placement is accurate at all zoom levels to ensure the best possible correction. DxO Viewpoint’s explicit icons and refined tools help you quickly and easily identify all of the software’s features.
Change the angle of the shot
Virtually shift the point of view of your photo. DxO ViewPoint lets you change the angle of your shot after the fact so that it will be perfectly in sync with the image you want to produce. You can change the position of your camera both laterally and vertically.
Automatic crop: maximize the visible field
Keep your photos fully framed, no matter what corrections you apply. Fix perspectives, straighten the horizon, shift the point of view: the automatic crop feature systematically optimizes the visible field — a DxO exclusive. You can also manually adjust the crop using either a standard or a completely custom aspect ratio so that your photo expresses exactly what you want. The composition grid will help you make even more precise adjustments. You can use the new advanced crop feature to access your entire image, even after correction. This tool lets you maintain the aspect ratio of your image when correcting volume deformation, so as to maximize the visible field according to your own taste. You can easily fill in the residual dark (cropped) areas using photo retouch software.
Integration of DxO ViewPoint plugin with DxO OpticsPro
As a plugin, DxO ViewPoint integrates seamlessly with DxO OpticsPro. The features of DxO ViewPoint are added to DxO OpticsPro’s settings window as a dedicated palette, giving you easy access to its tools and settings. You can apply your perspective and volume deformation corrections to any image you are processing. Combined with DxO OpticsPro, DxO ViewPoint lets you apply your corrections directly to your RAW files. DxO ViewPoint is compatible with DxO OpticsPro starting with version 10.
