Artist Info: James Kei was born in Saudi Arabia, raised in Japan, and educated in Russia. His work has a strong traditional figurative background. He works at Massive Black as a Concept artist, where he sits in a corner and laughs at everyone from behind his wacom tablet. James has contributed art and vision to almost 30 next-generation video game titles during his professional career. His Fine Art is currently showing at the Shooting Gallery in San Francisco.
The entertainment industry has been walking away from traditional materials for a decade now, but itпїЅs still not a common thing to see someone do life painting from an actual model. That is, of course, unless youпїЅre in KeiпїЅs class. And now you can be!
In this demonstration, recorded from a one and a half hour life painting session, Kei covers all the basics to his approach. If you want to get started with digital life painting, there is no better place to start. (And thatпїЅs not just marketing talkпїЅ I looked around.)
